Heroes of the Storm: Age of Ultra Lame Talents

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!

The last few updates to Heroes of the Storm have brought with them major talent changes to various heroes. A few heroes that have remained relatively unchanged since the beta, like Nova, have seen drastic changes in their talent options. Amidst these changes, I have observed a difference in the way talents are being designed. In some cases, potent gameplay options are being replaced with entirely inconsequential talents, and this design is becoming more widespread (albeit slowly). In today’s post, I will discuss the observations that are leading me to believe that Heroes of the Storm is moving into an age of ultron ultra lame talents.

My WoW Clone: Level Cap (Part 2)

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!

Previously on My WoW Clone, I left a steaming pile of crap on the doorstep of World of Warcraft while explaining my disdain for level cap increases in MMORPGs. I didn’t plan for that, but it happened as I was trying to build up to the topic I wanted to discuss. Since I have let most of the vitriol out of my system, I can move forward with the topic at hand. Today, I will be discussing how My WoW Clone would handle a level cap differently from World of Warcraft and its clones. It may surprise you to learn, especially after the previous post, that I am not following in the footsteps of those games.

Paragon: Looks Kind of Boring

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!

I just finished watching a video released by MMOBomb.com featuring some gameplay from Paragon, a game currently in development. I was left with mixed feelings about it, and I wanted to discuss them here. The footage I saw didn’t get me excited for the game’s release, nor was I entirely put off by what I saw. I’m at that level where I think the game needs A LOT of work before the developers launch it. In today’s post, I want to discuss why I was left with the impression that Paragon looks kind of boring.

RM Project: All of the Revamp

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!

It has been almost two months since my last RM Project post. In the previous post, I discussed some changes I intended to make to how I would use the equipment feature in RPG Maker VX Ace. At the end of the post, I revealed I had purchased RPG Maker MV after wrestling with the idea of avoiding it completely. Since then, I have been reworking the ideas I had planned for my VX Ace project to make better use of the tools available in MV (specifically the Yanfly Plugins). In today’s post, I will discuss some of the ideas I have been playing with.

My WoW Clone: Level Cap (Part 1)

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!

When an expansion is announced for an MMORPG, it is common for one of the highlighted changes to be an increased level cap. This is often coupled with the release of new zones where players can acquire the experience to reach the new level cap, and new max level content. For most people, this brings joy and excitement. After playing through two World of Warcraft expansions (and part of a third), I find the value of a level cap increase to be worth nothing. In today’s post, I will explain my disdain for increased level caps, and next week I will divulge how My WoW Clone would differ in this regard.

I’ve Been Playing Creativerse

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!

About a week ago (or so), my buddy Groupy introduced me to a game that was free on Steam. When I installed the game, I wasn’t expecting to be surprised because it just looked like another Minecraft-like game. Little did I know I would already have a fort/castle built near where I initially spawned, and dozens of crafting materials stockpiled after only 27-ish hours of playing. I’ve had fun with Minecraft, and I’m having fun with this new game. Today, I will discuss some of the things I have learned about the game I’ve been playing, and how it differs from its predecessor.

Today, I thought I would showcase one of the most important facets of the My WoW Clone project. This is the portion of the project that I am most excited about, because it requires the most creative thought. It is also one of the most challenging, because it involves taking a class that exists and doing something different with it. Crowfall: Skills that Pay the Bills

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!

If you have not yet heard, it turns out Crowfall will have a metric shit-ton of skills available at launch. ArtCraft Entertainment recently released the information about this portion of their game, and there is a lot to take in at once. You can also find an interview with J. Todd Coleman on MMORPG.com that was released earlier in the week. Most of the information from the interview can be found in the Skills FAQ on the Crowfall site, but there was an image from MMORPG’s post that caught my eye. In today’s post, I will discuss what I have learned about the skills system, and how I believe it might affect the game in the long term.

My WoW Clone: Introduction

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!

Today marks the start of a new blog series! In this series, I will embark on a journey to concept an imaginary MMORPG that follows in the footsteps of RIFT and Star Wars: The Old Republic. This journey will be filled with a lack of original thought, a lack of imagination, and a rabid need to imitate everything that the most popular MMORPG has done since its release. I will go against everything that I stand for to concept a game without action combat, that focuses on Raid progression, and boasts the gear treadmill as its primary source of content. Join me as I endeavor to create my very own World of Warcraft clone.

WordPress: Settings Clarity

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!

This is a quick update post!

For a while now I have been trying to figure out why some posts won’t let you read them in their entirety through the WordPress Reader. This has been an issue for me because my posts can’t be viewed through the WordPress Reader, and I want them to be. If a person using WordPress doesn’t want to be bothered with going to my website just to read my blogs (even if I think my site is pretty cool), I don’t think they should feel obligated to. So I have looked through the settings in the WordPress Admin to rectify this problem, and I found the culprit.
