Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!
Today’s post is going to be shorter than usual (hopefully). On a weird note, this post will also not feature anything related to gaming. This means that I won’t have any room to insult World of Warcraft in any way possible. I know, I know! You’re totally sad about that, but we must try new things (sometimes). Of course, if you are reading this, you have already read the title and aren’t expecting a gaming-related post. For those who come here for gaming posts, fear not. More will be coming, but I cannot be sure if it will happen this week. For the rest of you, let’s discuss Heroes Reborn.
What’s the buzz?
This week (Thursday, specifically), NBC will be airing the premiere for Heroes Reborn, the reboot to the original Heroes show which began in 2006. Now, I use the term ‘reboot’ lightly. While Heroes Reborn is a fresh start to the franchise, there will be a number of characters from the original show making a return. For example, the character commonly known as H.R.G., or the man with the Horn-Rimmed Glasses, will be featured prominently in the series. So, you can think of Heroes Reborn as more of a sequel to the original show.
Why am I excited?
Heroes was, and still is, one of my absolute favorite shows that has aired on television. It wasn’t a show about superheroes like what you see in comics or in the Marvel movies. Heroes was a show focused on everyday people who just happened to have super powers. They had to learn how to live with these abilities that no human has had before. They had avoid being captured or killed by the people who were secretly hunting anyone with powers. There were also elements of time travel and prophecy involved, which kept the show intense and compelling to watch.
What should we suspect from Reborn?
Heroes Reborn looks to continue the legacy of the original series by revitalizing the tenants that it was founded on. The new series will take place five years after the events of the original show, and a lot will have changed. There are a lot more people with powers around. The world will have become privy to the existence of super powered beings by this point. Now, not only do these ordinary people with powers need to attempt to live normal lives and hide from anyone who may be hunting them, they now have to avoid exposing themselves (more so than before) or else face persecution from the world.
That’s all I will go into for now, because there is a whole 2-hour premiere that is airing tomorrow. All of the questions that may have been raised by the end of the original show could be answered in those two hours. However, the more likely situation to occur is the arrival of even more questions, and zero answers.
I would like to do some more coverage of Heroes Reborn in some way on this blog. However, I haven’t quite decided in what way or when or how often I will do it. My blog has more success when focused on gaming, but that is if you can say an average of 50 views per week is a success. Perhaps, I could do a recap whenever an episode airs. Instead of simply retelling each and every moment of an episode, I could comment on specific moments that stood out to me. I think it would be fun, and I could write it immediately after the episode has aired. I’m sure I’ll figure something out.
